I'm Joshua Bleier. Welcome to my class-required, court-ordered Biography & Interests web page. This page, constructed under strict guidelines in order to satisfy the EdTec 541 rubrics, is filled with fun facts that define who I am, and what I stand for.

I'm a Transplant from the Bay Area (Which was before I transplanted briefly to Atlanta, Georgia, after transplanting from Irvine, California, where I transplanted to from Northridge, CA), living in San Diego for the past two and a half years.

I'm also a frustrated musician; I've played the drums for Jazz combos in the Bay Area and Atlanta. In order to hone my skills at Afro-Cuban and Latin rhythms, I took a couple of trips to Cuba. I still play, but I'm not playing with any groups now.

I became active in politics relatively late in life. I voted democratic for many years, but began to see a significant shift by that party towards the center over a decade and a half ago, while my politics became more and more progressive.

In 1996, I had finally had enough, and became a member of the Green Party.

In 1999, as an active member of the Greens, I took part in the marches against the World Trade Organization in Seattle, Washington.

A year later, I was elected to the Green Party County Council in San Mateo County. I find that few people are aware of what the Green Party stands for beyond a handful of environmental sound bytes; as it turns out, our values are your values. Check out our 10 Key Values and see if you agree.

I moved down to San Diego with my former fiancee (And now current wife) Kathy. We own a wonderful home in Brisbane which we look forward to getting back to in the next few years.

Educationally, I have a B.S. in Computer Science from UCI, and a Masters in Computer Science from Georgia Tech. I'm currently enrolled in the Masters Program in Educational Technology at SDSU.

Have I mentioned that I'm married? Yep, it happened back in October of 2002 to a wonderful woman named Kathy.

We got married in my parent's backyard in Northridge; it was a wonderful event, featuring a Ceremony-in-the-Round and a Rabbi who performs stand-up comedy.

We're going to run the digital video through Final Cut Pro and charge a dollar and a quarter just to see it (Apologies to Joni Mitchell).

For over a year, I was the Computer Support Technician at Magnolia Elementary school in the Cajon Valley Union School District (But the teachers and students just called me 'Mr. Josh, the Computer Guy'). I designed and implemented the Magnolia Web pages, but their content has since been taken over and augmented considerably by Site Lead Technology teacher-extraordinary Susan Plack. Take a look at the pages and let us know what you think.

At the beginning of the following year, I was transferred to Fuerte Elementary, and at the same time I took a second job as a Technology Coach for the College of Education at SDSU.

Most recently, I managed to get the coveted Cajon Valley Middle School computer geek gig, where I helped establish an After-School Computer Class. Many of the students would use this as a chance to play networked online games (Runescape being their current favorite), but a number of students took this time seriously to do homework and work on building web pages using Mozilla Composer.

Through the EdTec 644 Project Seminar (Now Ed795A), I began developing web pages for Dr. Tom Impelluso, a Professor in SDSU's Mechanical Engineering Department. In the Spring of 2003, I built a basic web site for his ME290 - Intro to Programming course; this site includes the class syllabus, schedule and course calendar, but has no learning modules.

In the Fall of 2004, I incorporated learning modules using SDSU's ICARE methodology for Dr. I's ME295- Simulation of Physical Systems class. Dr. Impelluso's innovative course design led to a Summer Symposium for Mechanical Engineering professors to learn about the course and it's content.

Currently, I've been working on additional learning modules for the Fall 2005 ME203 - C Programming Methods class.
